Day 32 – Armacao de Buzios, Brazil Bridge, February 4, 2025February 7, 2025 Located in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Buzios is a peninsula of approximately 8km in length and home to 23 lovely beaches. It was virtually unknown until it was made famous by Brigitte Bardot who holidayed there in the 1960s, after which it became a favourite of the international jet set and middle class Rio citizens who often drive here at weekends (it being only 173 km from Rio). As Buzios has no port, we were required to be transported ashore by tender using the ship’s lifeboats, which only took around 10 minutes. When we arrived offshore in the morning there was very little wind and virtually no swell, however the wind whipped up significantly during the day which forced the captain to halt any further tenders ashore and only focus on getting everyone back to the ship. Luckily for us we got up early and made it ashore! 😇 It was a bit hair raising watching from our balcony at the end of the day as the crew struggled to winch the lifeboats back up onto the ship in the by-now not inconsiderable swell! While on shore we had a good mooch around the main shopping street Rua das Pedras, before walking along the charming waterfront to Porto dos Pescadores restaurant for lunch – barbecued fresh fish with more chips, rice and salad than we could eat in a whole lifetime!! The place had a very laid back vibe and was in some respects reminiscent of a Greek island. Daily Posts
