Day 85 – Los Angeles, Day 2 Bridge, April 5, 2026April 21, 2026 Today we went on an excursion to Santa Monica where we enjoyed strolling around, stopping for brunch and visiting the pier before moving on to Beverly Hills where we strolled up and down the ridiculously ostentatious Rodeo Drive and the surrounding area. The best part of the day however, without doubt, was locating a corner shop near the ship and filling up our rucksack with soft drinks, crisps and chocolate to last us for the next few days! 😃 🍫 We have enjoyed Los Angeles, but to be honest, I doubt we would bother to return. The sheer physical land area of the city makes it challenging to navigate, especially if you only have a couple of days. For example, simply driving from Long Beach to Beverly Hills involves a distance of 31 miles and a 45 minute car journey; the equivalent of driving from Westminster Abbey to Luton Airport. And although the vibe is undoubtedly chilled (think beachside burger bars, youngsters on rollerskates, wide open beaches and endless sunshine, all set against a backdrop of 1960s rock’n’roll music), we did note a lack of substantial historical points of interest which usually serve as the anchor points of the world’s great cities. i Daily Posts
